Dr Özgür Uyanık

Özgür has been developing, producing and writing screenplays for over two decades in the British film industry. He started off as a reader providing script reports for film production companies before working as a development executive helping to shepherd several feature films into production. He has also made award-winning short films, ad campaigns, and his feature film work has been produced with several
other projects in funded development.

From these experiences grew a deep fascination of how screenplays function and the processes involved in getting them made into films and TV shows. This in turn culminated in a screenwriting doctoral thesis as well as teaching creative writing and screenwriting at Cardiff and Cardiff Metropolitan Universities.

Committed to life-long learning, Özgür’s motivational teaching style is inclusive, supportively guided, and practice-based in order to prepare students for their transition to real world conditions with regard to their screenwriting craft, whether students are complete novices or more advanced along their screenwriting journeys. He also writes novels and short stories.
